12th Annual Vallarta Altruism Festival - May 8, 2016

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Banderas Bay area is home to a variety of charities and non-profit organizations that enhance the lives of those who are in need of help, so once again, CasaMagna Marriott Resort Puerto Vallarta and American Consular Agent Kelly Trainor are teaming up to host the 11th Annual International Festival of Altruism.

 

Scheduled to be held in the beachfront garden at the Marriott CasaMagna Resort in Marina Vallarta at 6 pm on May 17, 2015, this popular charitable event offers everyone the opportunity to learn more about the continuing and varying needs of some of our most important local charities and non-profit organizations, and how you can get involved.

 

Every year, over one thousand Puerto Vallarta residents and visitors turn out for this event, which features top restaurants offering food and refreshments, live entertainment, dancing and more for one low price, with all proceeds donated to Banderas Bay area charitable organizations who are in need of a little help, including:

Amigos de La Cruz • Banderas Bay Cultural Association • Biblioteca Los Mangos • Breakfast for Children • Casa Hogar Orphanage • Dives in Misericordia • Down Syndrome Association • Paraiso Felino • Puerto Vallarta Food Bank • Puerto Vallarta Navy League • Rehabilitation Clinic Santa Barbara • R.I.S.E. • Rotary Club • The Salvation Army • SETAC • Torpedos Football of Vallarta • Visually Handicapped Association • Whale Ecological and Conservation

 

Each charity will feature an exposition booth at the festival, giving everyone a chance to learn about the great impact they are having on the Puerto Vallarta community.

 

In addition to the charity information booths, this year's festival will feature a wide variety of entertainment ranging from live music and dancing to cultural presentations and an extraordinary culinary demonstration by some of Puerto Vallarta's finest restaurants and food and beverage suppliers, including: • Barcelona Tapas • Café des Artistes • Café Gourmet • Daiquiri Dick'sKaiser Maximilian • Ketsi at Four Seasons Punta Mita • La Leche • No Way José! • Pie in the Sky • River Café • Vista Grill • Vitea - and more are signing up every day.

 

Don't miss this very upbeat, wonderful evening of food, friendship and fun, with all proceeds divided equally among the charities. Tickets, which include food, drinks and entertainment, cost just $350 pesos in advance (available from any of the non-profit organizations listed above, or from the CasaMagna Marriott Concierge) or $450 pesos at the gate on the day of the event.

 

 Postscript:  $42,000 pesos was awarded to Amigos for their participation in the 2016 Altruism Festival.

This year we received a total of 27,091 pesos (approx. $1,694 USD) !  It was a lot of hard work to earn the money and every year I swear “never again”  but when I get the reward it makes it all worth while. We’ve been able to help so many people, especially children, who otherwise might have gone without.

The money this year has been divided two ways; a portion was deposited into our bank account and the rest was deposited into our account with Dr. Raphael Ipiña at his office and pharmacy (Travel Medical Assistance by Terralta) in Bucerias. Dr. Raphael has been so helpful to us over this last year, not only has he gone on home visits for no charge, he has seen many of our clients on a moments notice for second opinions, diagnosing and filling prescriptions. He’s also been able to save us money on several occasions by ordering procedures thorough his own account and preventing us from paying for unnecessary procedures. I can’t thank him enough.

 

Dr. Raphael is also one of the physicians at the new Walk-in Clinic on the lateral. If you haven’t had need to go to either office, that’s a good thing, but if you find yourself needing a doctor you won’t be disappointed in the top-notch care at either location. Tell him I sent you!
